Lina is an American writer, director, actor, and cinematographer, who started her career on the stage, touring all over the US. Upon moving to NYC, she became an integral part of the Latinx Theater Community as and actor, and began writing for the stage and directing in such companies as Latinoflavored Productions, Teatro LaTea, and the People’s Theater Project.
As the child of two immigrants, Lina is interested in creating stories about family and social issues. She enjoys using comedy and magical realism to highlight the absurdity of life and how moments in our lives can create inner change and growth.
Her main interest in making movies is to reach a larger audience and inspire people to think, and, hopefully, work through life’s difficulties, even if it is in a small way. In her films, Lina explores the human condition through laughter, even when there is difficulty. Lina especially enjoys the visual aspect of filmmaking and how to create a story in just one look. Lina believes that her purpose as a storyteller is to both entertain and help people learn how to look at life in a unique way. She’d love to be able to inspire others with her work in this way.
She has directed and DP’d several films, including All Things Bohemian, Choices, Committed, Lobo: an Orisha Tale, and Papa George, that have been official selections and award winners at several US film festivals.
